The mission of the National Concert Band is based on service. The band’s Board of Directors has determined its mission to be:
1. To provide the finest quality music to the widest audience at an affordable cost.
2. To perform on our nation’s great holidays at national shrines and parks, in memory of veterans and patriots of America’s past.
3. To provide a wide variety of music, both classical and modern with a variety of style, for the enjoyment of all audiences.
4. To offer legendary players retiring from the great service bands an opportunity to maintain their proficiency while entertaining audiences with their great skill and experience.
5. To inspire learning musicians of all ages to recognize that the development of musical skills is important towards overall well being, satisfaction, and happiness in life.
6. To mentor student, disadvantaged, and minority musical groups by performing with them.
7. To continually strive to be the nation’s leading and representative volunteer concert band by attracting and maintaining the finest musicians.
8. To preserve the legendary character of the great concert bands in America.
9. To preserve the concert band music in the United States so prominent in the first half of this century, with the bands of Sousa, Pryor, Goldman, LaValle, and many others, including the great circus bands.
10. To make recordings for distribution to those audiences who are unable to travel to the area.
