Support the Band

Tax-Deductible Contributions

Because The National Concert Band of America is chartered as a not-for-profit organization, donations to the Band are deductible as charitable contributions on one’s tax return.  No member of the Band receives any financial compensation for his/her participation in the Band’s activities.  Donations are put into the General Operating Fund unless specifically marked for a special purpose.  If it is your intention to mark a donation for a special purpose, it is best to have discussed such special purpose with one or more members of our Board of Directors before committing the funds.  Your canceled check will serve as a receipt for the donation for tax purposes, but the Band will also happily provide you with a formal receipt upon request.

Donations and Grants

The National Concert Band of America, unlike most community bands, is not supported by a local government entity. The Band is entirely dependent upon stipends, donations and grants for its operational funds. We do receive occasional nominal grants from some of the local arts councils where we perform, but these only scratch the surface of our budgetary needs. Many members of our audiences make donations to the Band at our concerts.  The organizations which sponsor our performances provide a stipend which aids in offsetting our expenses.

If the Band is to adequately fulfill our mission and meet our goals, substantial additional funding sources must become available. If you share the belief in the significance of our organizational mission, please consider one of the following:

Wills and Trusts

Bequests to the Band in wills or from trusts can be a boon to the Band and its audiences as well as a lasting memorial to the donor.  There are numerous ways to structure such gifts, and if your belief in and support of our efforts leads you to consider such a gift, we will be pleased to work with you and your estate planner / trustee to set up the appropriate documentation which will ensure that your wishes are carried out.  Please feel free to contact our Treasurer or any member of our Board of Directors to discuss such an arrangement, or for further information about the possibilities and process.
