Our annual holiday concert brings audiences together to celebrate the warmth, reflection, and festive joy of the winter season. This program weaves a rich tapestry of multicultural traditions, moving seamlessly from sacred, introspective masterworks to energetic, lighthearted holiday favorites. By pairing timeless winter transcriptions with vibrant modern arrangements, the performance offers a multi-faceted journey through the melodies that define this time of year.

 

The concert opens with the grand, colorful splendor of Joaquín Turina’s La Procession du Rocio, setting a majestic tone before turning inward with the breathtaking, intimate beauty of Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium. The music then expands into a celebration of diverse cultural heritages: David Marshall’s Hanukkah Holiday brings traditional Jewish folk melodies to life with spirited warmth, while Sean O'Loughlin’s Imani draws on the Kwanzaa principle of faith through expressive chant-like lines and dynamic African percussion rhythms.

 

As the celebration peaks, the program turns unabashedly festive with Erik Morales’ fiery We Wish You a Mambo Christmas and Julie Giroux’s clever, high-octane mashup of Christmas and Sousa Forever. The afternoon concludes with the sleigh bells and infectious warmth of Leroy Anderson’s beloved classic Sleigh Ride. This special performance offers an uplifting, joy-filled experience designed to inspire and delight listeners of all ages.
